The Club

The Taranaki Radio Control Car Club Inc. has been in existence since 1978, and consists of a friendly and enthusiastic group, ranging in age from 6 to 60, who all have one thing in common.   They love racing Radio Control Cars. 

 

Racedays

On road racing - 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month, weather permitting.

Off road racing - 4th Sunday of every month, weather permitting, postponed to 2nd Sunday if 4th is rained off.

Indoor - Dependent on free nights at Yarrows Stadium

Classes

We cater for both Internal Combustion (Gas or IC) classes and Electric classes, and examples of these cars can be seen in our Gallery.  

 

Scoring

The TRCCC uses AMBrc transponders and Alycat Race Management software to lap-score races.

 

Location

 

On Road

 

The TRCCC has a permanent outdoor sealed track situated at the base of Paritutu Rock, Centennial Drive, overlooking New Plymouth Power Station and Port Taranaki.   It is just 5 minutes from the centre of New Plymouth, and has been marked for easy reference on a Street Map, (39° 3'35.32"S  174° 1'33.59"E) .  Registrations must be made by 11:30am on the day, racing starts promptly at 12:00, and you needn’t be a member to race.

 

Off Road

 

The club is also an off road site on Clemow Road at the opposite end of town.  This is also the future location of the on road track (39° 2'37.77"S   174° 6'50.67"E).  Registrations must be made by 10:30am on the day, racing starts promptly at 11:00, and you needn’t be a member to race.

 

Indoor

 

Indoor racing is held at Star Gym on Tukapa Street and dates are shown on our Calendar.  The venue will be open at 6.00pm for drivers to set up and register and racing is expected to finish at approximately 10.30pm where all drivers will be required to remain behind to help pack up the track. 

 

Rules

The TRCCC is affiliated to the New Zealand Radio Control Association (NZRCA) which provides standardisation of class & racing rules for all affiliated clubs around New Zealand, as well as sanctioning open race meetings at various times and places throughout the year.

All cars that are raced, and the race meetings themselves must comply with these rules which have been written in the interests of fairness to competitors, and for the promotion of the sport.
